Between Girona and the Costa Brava, Mas Oms is a 15th-century farmhouse turned six-room boutique hotel by a French family where nourishing food, yoga, and restorative peace are woven into the stay.

A holistic wellness retreat

Mas Oms sits on top of a hill where the views stretch between mountains and coast and the nearest neighbours are out of sight. Julien and Céline didn't build it to be Instagrammable, but because they genuinely believe in this way of living and hosting, and that conviction shows up in every meal and every conversation without ever needing to be announced. You feel it. That's the point.

Meet

the hosts

Julien has been in restaurants and hotels since he was 15. He knows natural wine the way some people know old friends. Céline launched a local food shop that people in the area still talk about: healthy, plant-forward, and nourishing in a way that managed to feel indulgent at the same time.

Over the ten years before moving to Spain, they trained extensively in reiki, energy work, and aromatherapy. The dream they kept returning to was a place where wellness is the underlying logic of everything: food, space, rhythm, rest, and the occasional interior shift that happens when you spend a few days somewhere truly held.

Winter retreats

Food as foundation

Breakfast is Mas Oms' signature. Á-la-carte, largely plant-based, protein-rich, and generous enough that guests describe it as indulgent even though nothing on the table is working against them.

Rural wellness

Yoga classes, massages, and energy treatments are available for guests. So is the pool, the garden, the reading nooks, and the simple act of doing nothing in a place designed to support it.

Winter retreats

When the hotel closes each autumn, Julien and Céline run four-to-five-day immersive retreats built around energy work, transformation, and deep rest, led by themselves with carefully chosen partners.

Mas Oms

Julien and Céline had been turning this idea over in conversations for more than a decade before it became a farmhouse in the Catalan hills.

It took shape slowly in the background - a shared belief in food as medicine, ten years of energy training, a clear picture of the kind of hosting they wanted to do. Finally, it found its form in a year of renovation and a six-room rural hotel.

The idea was always more than a hotel. "They didn't just want to open a hotel. They wanted to create a place where people could disconnect completely, where wellness wasn't an add-on but woven into the fabric of the experience, where food, nature, yoga, energy treatments and calm formed a coherent whole." What took longer to resolve was the format. At first, Mas Oms was imagined as something close to a permanent retreat - a place guests would come specifically for transformation and deep rest. But that model, they quickly understood, wasn't yet economically viable. So they opened in a more classic form first: beautiful rooms, exceptional breakfasts, wellness options available without being pushed, a boutique hotel where guests could simply arrive, relax, and go at their own pace.

That pragmatism didn't mean compromise. The food has been central from the beginning. Breakfast is built around what Céline knows: healthy, protein-rich, plant-forward, and presented with enough generosity that no one eating it feels like they're being corrected. "Guests often arrive with no intention of changing how they eat and leave having discovered they actually enjoy and feel better with more vegetables, less heaviness." Wellness follows the same logic — present, available, and entirely without pressure. Massages, yoga, and energy treatments are on offer for those who want them. For those who don't, the garden, the pool, the reading corners, and the quiet of the valley are more than enough.

Over time, Julien and Céline have been able to bring the retreat side back to the centre. Each winter, when the hotel closes, they run four-to-five-day energetic retreats - immersive, led by themselves, built around the kind of inner work that requires several days in a held space to become possible. "The exchanges that happen during those days are, in their words, what nourishes them most." It's the purest version of what they set out to build. And even when the hotel runs in its more everyday mode, that same intention is present in every meal, every space, every conversation - felt rather than explained. That, as they would say, is what coherence actually looks like.

The accommodation is very comfortable. We had a spotless, spacious room with a lot of rustic charm. The location is very peaceful, perfect for a quiet get away. Julien and Céline are wonderful, friendly hosts. Breakfast options are healthy, varied and fresh, lunch was a handy available option and dinner was delicious!
