In the secluded Vall de Llémena, Mas Margot is a 18th century Catalan masía reborn as an intimate eight‑room retreat with heritage architecture, artisan design, and slow, owner‑run hospitality.

Where time slows down

Tucked into the quiet hills of Girona, Mas Margot is a restored Catalan masía where old stone meets modern calm. Once a forgotten farmhouse, it now opens its doors as an eight-room sanctuary. A place built with intention, lived with warmth, and shaped by two people who chose a different rhythm of life. Step inside, and everything softens: the light, the silence, even your breath.

Meet

the hosts

Julio and Michéle didn’t arrive here by accident. After years in fast-paced lives across Europe, they found themselves craving a quieter way of living - one rooted in land, hospitality, and meaning.

That search led them to an abandoned mas with no roof and trees growing through its walls. Where others saw ruin, they saw possibility. Today, they run Mas Margot with a balance of presence and care, welcoming guests with a warmth that feels like longtime friendship.

What you will

find here

Restoration

A historic masía rebuilt with deep respect for its original soul. From ochre shutters to the wine cellar carved beneath the house.

Serenity

Eight light-filled rooms overlooking the Girona hills, where mornings begin with birdsong and unhurried silence.

Hospitality

A stay shaped personally by Julio and Michéle - thoughtful gestures, and a presence that makes you feel truly cared for.

About Mas Margot

What began as a simple renovation slowly unfolded into a full transformation. As each layer of the old mas revealed a new surprise - a hidden fault in the stone, a collapsed roofline - its potential grew clearer.

Today, Mas Margot stands with quiet confidence: eight rooms, warm light, and the landscape held gently in every window.

The soul of Mas Margot lies in its balance between preservation and renewal, between memory and intention. From the beginning, Julio and Michéle were clear: they didn’t want to erase the farmhouse’s past. They wanted to listen to it.

They kept what gave the house its soul: the window proportions, the original roofline, the ochre shutters. In doing so, they found a quiet harmony - where modern calm meets rural honesty. Inside, the result feels effortless. Old stone meets smooth plaster; raw wood rests against brushed metal.

Some of the most beautiful details came from the structure itself. They kept the original arched wine cellar - the cava catalana - carved beneath the house, a space that once stored barrels and now stands as a quiet reminder of the mas’s agricultural roots.

The interiors carry the same thoughtful restraint. Every room holds small gestures that reflect Julio and Michéle’s sensibility - niche alcoves with hand-painted finishes, reclaimed furniture, ceramics collected from nearby artisans. […] Subtle references to the region’s artistic heritage echo through the house - hints of Dalí’s surreal balance between dream and landscape, abstraction and earth.

Life here moves slower, in the best way. Breakfast stretches into conversation, plans dissolve into quiet afternoons by the valley, guests arrive with itineraries and leave with the memory of stillness.

Mas Margot isn’t just a stay - it’s a rhythm you slip into without realizing.
